SHONDA RHIMES: They were both very brave shooting this scene.
PETER HORTON: They were very brave [laughs]. Especially Ellen, who usually the situation with actresses you’re a little wary of even asking them to get partially naked, with Ellen I asked very nervously, “how would you feel about-” she was “yeah, fine!” [laughs]. She took her clothes off and she jumped on the couch. We were like, “OK, this will be great!”.
SHONDA RHIMES: And Patrick!
PETER HORTON: And Patrick too!
SHONDA RHIMES: He flexed his butt for us, hour after hour.
PETER HORTON: Yes, he did! [laughs]

Meredith and Derek Meme: S4 Moment
4x14 The Becoming
Derek: Spinal tap showed encephalitis. The virus reverted. There’s no way we could’ve predicted this.
Meredith: I shouldn’t have said I could handle this. I shouldn’t have let you go.
Derek: No, you did everything right. You did what I would’ve done. On my way here, I stopped and got this. For when we get it right. Because we will. We will succeed. And we will save someone. Then, when we do. We’re going to open this bottle of champagne. And we’re going to drink to Phillip Robinson and Darren Covington and all the other patients who helped us change the face of medicine. And we’re going to celebrate. We’re going to use this as our victory dance. Meredith, we will. We’re going to open this bottle of champagne. This scene has a soft spot to me because for me it has a double meaning. When Mer said “I shouldn’t have let you go” and when Derek said “For when we get it right, because we will” they have double meaning. Of course they’re talking about the trial and perhaps only referring to that trial. But the way Ellen and Patrick acted through this scene, I just feel something else. Either they are that good, or I’m being paranoid. Regardless, I love this scene.
Why should I ever trust you? Why should I trust you? You ended my trial, you set back my career, you nearly ended your own, you destroyed Richard’s.
“We met at this bar, remember? We met and we, um, you said I’m just a girl, and I said I’m just a guy, and we started this thing.”
